We had an incredible Japanese breakfast in Canmore that felt like a little escape to Japan. The experience was truly delightful — the staff were exceptionally friendly, and the setting was serene, nestled within a greenhouse garden surrounded by lush plants and vibrant flowers. The food was authentic and soul-soothing. The traditional Japanese breakfast, complete with salmon, rice, vegetables, and miso soup, brought back memories of Japan. The Kyoto Wakei matcha was pure bliss, and both the Omurice and eggs Benedict were equally outstanding! Seating is limited, so be sure to book a few weeks in advance. I’m already counting down the days until I can go back and explore more of the menu!

I've been meaning to come here for over a year and finally made it out to Canmore! It takes a bit of planning because Wagashi's opening hours are limited, especially if you work a 9-5 day job but it's so worth taking a day off to come here when you get the chance! I haven't had a Japanese breakfast experience since... well... being in Japan, so this experience was nostalgic for me. They put a lot of care and consideration into their ingredients and presentation. Being inside a garden greenhouse, the ambience is also very peaceful. On a breezy spring or summer day, they let fresh air in and it just adds so much to the whole experience. They source their tea through Matsu Kaze which is very high quality. I actually buy most of my green tea from Matsu Kaze as well--it's pricey but the quality is worth it if you're a tea lover! I'll be sure to visit again to try out more of the menu and some seasonal features. It's been overall a fun experience, exactly what I'd hoped it to be like since I started following them on IG several years ago. Recommend adding Wagashi Tea House to any day trip from Calgary to Canmore! This trip i tried the tamago negi onigiri (egg and green onion rice ball), the Japanese breakfast set paired with sencha as they recommended, and a nerikiri dessert that was a smooth grainy texture and not too sweet. Loved all of it. Make sure to book a reservation before going as reservations are required! Also makes for seamless service (:

Tucked inside Bow Valley Garden Centre, Wagashi Tea House offers a menu of Japanese teas, comforting bentos, light desserts, and more. Try the trio of refreshing iced green teas; take small sips to enjoy the quality and differentiate the notes. The maple soy salmon was lightly cooked and oh-so tender with a slight crispiness from the skin. While the vegetables may look simple, you can taste the care that went into creating their deep flavor and softness. I don't see the ochazuke on any virtual menus so it might be a newer dish. Don't be intimidated by something unfamiliar; the server will explain how you should traditionally enjoy this dish. I absolutely loved it! The salmon is perfectly cooked, and the broth ties the dish together, creating a comforting umami bath for the rice and salmon.

I booked breakfast, just for myself, some solitude, as I had heard from a friend it is delicious food. It is! I chose the "Japanese breakfast" and am so glad I did. The salmon was superb, the finely sliced seaweed atop was crisp and complimented the salmon beautifully. The omelette was good; the miso was excellent; yummy rice and salad; all the different dishes were really superb. The Genmai cha (sencha infused with in-house roasted rice) complimented the breakfast very well and came in a beautiful dish. I finished the rest of my tea watching the clouds move across the valley. Incredibly relaxing. I sat outside.

This place is located inside a green house where you can purchase plants. The food is quite delicious. We order the chicken and beef burgers as well as a tuna poke bowel. The presentation is gorgeous and taste is phenomenal. I would recommend to anyone. I would definitely visit them again. You should definitely get a reservation and plan to come well ahead of their closing time as they do sellout of many of their star items.

Super cute and unassuming tea house inside the garden centre with killer views of the Three Sisters mountain range. I got the salmon and the chicken yakitori bentos to go, and both were delicious. What was really the winner for me, though, was the house smoked king salmon gravlax. I saw it calling to me through the display, and I do not regret getting it at all. Buttery, flavorful, and not too salty, I had it for breakfast this morning with my avocado toast and some scrambled eggs and it was chef’s kiss. I will definitely be back and I’m going to tell all my friends about this place. Don’t miss it on your trip to Canmore or the Rockies. You can also make online reservations. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Excellent Japanese breakfast, salmon was grilled to perfection and rice was seasoned nicely - not too salty. Miso soup was a great way to start the morning. The Shadow tasting flight was well recommended by the waiter as the in-season choice and I was glad he changed my mind from the currently out-of-season Earth flight. The Shadow flight gives a unique experience by letting you really taste what different levels of photo synthesis can do to the flavor of green tea. The full-sun sencha definitely had the strongest taste of chlorophyl while the 3 week shaded gyokuro had the earthiest taste. Service was professional and the indoor garden setting with the beautiful view of the mountains outside was unique and memorable setting. 5/5 would recommend!

Love this place I came here 2 years ago staying at the airbnb but didn’t realize this tea house at all. I like their food and mugs that they serving. Crews are nice and pleasant. I would love to own a place like this in the future. Food is also good and tasty. I had the egg Benedict with smoke salmon and today’s vegetable which was avocado with cappuccino. I came on an unplanned trip and wished to buy their home made smoked salmon and other dressing but no cooler with me. Anyways a great place to go for and will definitely visit again.
